“Love is great when it’s lighthearted and fun, but it’s changing and lasting when it’s meaningful and deep. There is a big difference between the love we choose because it’s easy and the love we choose because it’s worth it.” -Brianna Wiest, Why a Meaningful Life is Better Than a Happy One

“When I woke up the next day, I looked over at you still asleep and I smiled. I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom, lightness, joy. It’s not just you that I’m free from, but from all the guys that I’ve had things with in the past. For the first time in a long time, I have a clean slate. You were my last hold out. The world is completely open to me now. I don’t feel weighed down by “what-ifs” or failed relationships. Hiding behind these failed relationships is no longer an option. Clinging to them to justify my world is no longer available. There is no one in the wings, no other prospects. I’m being forced out of hiding. I have no feelings weighing me down, no drama. I feel re-energized to focus on my writing, my passions, and my friends. Who knew that one tiny “what-if” could propel me forward this much? I think I was waiting for something to force my hand and it finally presented itself. Now I’m free and I can’t wait to see what happens from here.”  -Lauren Winkler, I Just Wanted to Thank You

All the many changes

Red: Sometimes it makes me sad, though… Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend. -The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Calvin Weir-Fields: This is the true and impossible story of my very great love. In the hope that she will not read this and reproach me, I have withheld many telling details: her name, the particulars of her birth and upbringing, and any identifying scars or birth marks. All the same, I cannot help but write this for her, to tell her,

“I’m sorry for every word I wrote to change you, I’m sorry for so many things. I couldn’t see you when you were here and, now that you’re gone, I see you everywhere.”

One may read this and think it’s magic, but falling in love is an act of magic, so is writing. It was once said of Catcher in the Rye, “That rare miracle of fiction has again come to pass: a human being has been created out of ink, paper and the imagination.” I am no J.D. Salinger, but I have witnessed a rare miracle. Any writer can attest: in the luckiest, happiest state, the words are not coming from you, but through you. She came to me wholly herself, I was just lucky enough to be there to catch her. -Ruby Sparks (2012)

One Day and Bad Timings

‘That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it and think how different its course would have been. Pause, you who read this, and think for a long moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on that memorable day.’
– Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

‘Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just wasn’t practical. Better by far to simply try and be good and courageous and bold and to make a diffrence. Not change the world exactly, but the bit around you. Go out there with your passion and your electric typewriter and work hard at…something. Change lives through art maybe. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance.
David Nicholls, One Day

Club Mentality

Because I just started exploring the music of Two Door Cinema Club and I find their Reading 2012 set addicting. 😀

Maybe someday,
You’ll be somewhere
Talking to me
As if you knew me,
Saying, “I’ll be home for next year, darling.
I’ll be home for next year.”

Aaaaanddddd (I can’t even say this without getting excited! haha), the Bombay Bicycle Club set of course!

I’m currently loving Take the Right One from A Different Kind of Fix although they don’t usually perform this song in the festivals.  It has really great lyrics though.

You’ll steal this one when all is over
You’ll go and you can see all you gave her
You’ll flee the door, your eyes glowing
She’s there but you can’t keep on going

Death Will Never Conquer

I decided it was time to update my wallpaper. Since I really liked the previous one, I searched for a similar koi pond live wallpaper and look what I found!! Pretty nice, huh? 😀

And I totally fell in love with Coldplay’s Death Will Never Conquer as performed by the multi-instrumentalist Will Champion! Really great song with great lyrics. So great, in fact, that it got me contemplating about death. :))
